I was told that ATM was a viral infection in
the myelin surrounding the spinal cord usually
appears after another lung affliction i.e. I had
pneumonia in weeks prior to onset. GBS
has similar symptoms as my medical team
was working to find which I was suffering from.
My dr.(internal med) did say that he felt probably
my immune system was compromised by prior
use of steroids for a skin disease.I understand
steroids areused to stop inflamation of involved area.

I think the fear that Sharon was expressing is as bad for
her health as any other stress. My team of doctors
told me that relapse was possible but not likely. They
just stressed that I listen to my body and not overdo
nor fail to get enough rest when needed. I think we can
work ourselves into anything if we let negative thoughts
or unneccessary worries consume us!

Think positively. I do think you have to have drs you trust
whom you think are being honest with you..I don't mind if
they say they don't know, if they are willing to find the ans-
wers I need. Again, I think we are all lucky to have found
the membership of this list.

Sincerely, Jan
