I also am sorry to hear that your child has this
malady but I want it reinforce what Debbie C said,
Please do not hear lifelong paralysis. Thinking that
way is not positive! Positive thinking and prayer
are super tools that we each must use when we are
trying to help ourselves improve.

I never knew that I wasn't supposed to walk again and
I went forward with the notion that hard work et al would
bring it back. I went from wheelchair to walker to cane and
then to walking on my own. My greatest thrill was when my
5 year old granddaughter stared at me and screamed "grand-
ma you're walking alone!"

I also had to self catherize for about 6 months and no longer
need to do that. I do get the message that I need to eliminate
but then must strain to make it happen. You're daughter may
have that same problem but she can manage, it just takes
patience. I know that this is harder for a child but she will make
progress with alot on encouragement from her family support
group.

I, too, feel that if she is making the progress that you have told
us that she will continue to improve, especially if you let her see
that you think she can without pressuring her. Also let her know
that all of us are pushing for her, too!

Much luck! JanH
