The virus is actually the unknown reason for this illness, and it
usually causes the muscles (next to where he hits the body to
disfunctionate).
In your case it hit your mother's body in her stomach.
I experienced exactly the same thing about a year ago, when I was in
school but I got over it after two weeks. I can walk and feel every
organ in my body, although my body isn't as before the illness. However,
thanks to a lot of steroids I have been filled with by infusion, I am
defined as one of the best cases of Transverse Myelitis.
This desease is pretty rare, and it doesn't have a specific medication.
It is caused by an inflammation in the spinal cord where the virus hits
the body.
"myelitis" means "inflammation in the spinal cord" and "transverse"
means in the width- in your mother's case- in both legs.
