Carol -- I was diagnosed with TM this May only five weeks
after getting a tetanus shot. My neurologist, who seems to
specialize in TM and Guillian-Barre, told me the TM was most
likely caused from the tetanus shot--esp. since I had not
viral symptoms, etc. prior to the onset of my TM symptoms.
She is in the midst of doing a study about the possible link
between tetatus shots and TM. I don't have any other
details to share because I'm in the midst of researching
this issue myself. Let me know if you find anything else
new about it.
Take care,
Whitney

My son was paralyzed fromthe waist down last September,
1996. He spent 12
days in Children's Hospital and was transferred to a rehab
hospital. TM was
the diagnosis at the rehab although the doctors at CHOP
still are not sure.
They say it might have been an infarc. After much
research, I still feel
that he might have developed these symptoms from two
inoculations that he
received in August, 1996. HepB and Tetanus were given at
the same time at
his annual checkup. Research has indicated one of the
adverse side effects
of HepB vaccine, Recombivax, is TM and one the the side
effects of the
Tetanus shot is Guilliam-Barre. Has anyone heard of this
before?
