In response to your question regarding rehab being paid by insurance, we did
not have any problems while my daughter was in the hospital. She was in for
2 months having rehab at least 3 times daily. 100% was paid. As an
outpatient our insurance covered 90 visits, we learned we needed to be
careful as to how a visit was coded. After the 90 visits were used we needed
to appeal to have more. She even went to a rehab clinic where she had 8 hrs
each day of therapy and the cost was covered. Now our daughter works with a
physical trainer so that her therapy can be at home and for longer periods of
time. This we haven't been able to get covered because the insurance company
won't pay for a non licensed physical therapist despite the doctor's
recommendation to use this type of therapy.
