Our doctor, a rehab doctor specializing in children had told us that TM does
not occur, except in very very rare cases, more than once. It is a
condition, not a virus. For reasons unknown, the persons immunne system goes
haywire and attacks to spinal cord. In some instances a virus may, and I
stress may, be present in the body that the immune system was supposed to
attack. In my daughter's case,as well as another child who got TM 2 days
before, neither was sick, and neither had any virus ascertainable. Our
doctor has assurred us that we should not be concerned with another attack,
and in fact if she were to have another attack, it would probably indicate
that something else beyond TM was going on. I hope this helps. Caren
