I don't have any info. on TM and pregnancy, but I have a library book on MS,
which seems to be the disease most similar to TM. It addresses pregnancy more
from the mom's side than the baby's, but it doesn't indicate that there is
any harm to the baby, and it says MS (and, I assume, TM) can't be passed on
to the baby. It does say it would be a good idea to have help the first
several weeks after delivery due to the added strain of losing sleep, etc.
And a section on surgery says to avoid spinal anesthesia, so an epidural
during delivery might be risky.
Probably the biggest concern during pregnancy, I would guess, would be any
medications you might be on. If you are on any, it would be good to consult
with the neurologist and the dr. handling your pregnancy.
I remember I did ask my neurologist some months after the onset of TM about
pregnancy. He didn't indicate there would be any problems, but just said the
last few months when you're heavier and your center of gravity is off that
there might be more problems with balance, etc. But I've heard of people in
varying stages of disability being pregnant, so I imagine there are ways to
handle the problems that might come up.
Congratulations!
