Ear noises

Does anyone experience any ear problems? For a few months now I've had a
ringing or really more like a high pitched squeal, sometimes more noticeable
than others, usually in my left ear but sometimes in my right one also. I
first noticed it after starting Carbamazepine, even though that wasn't listed
as a side effect. But I've been off of it for some time now and still
experience this noise. The neurologist said (over the phone) that it was
probably just my nerves acting up. But I guess I need to see my regular
doctor. I don't want to attribute it to TM if it might be something else.
Hearing doesn't seem to be diminished. In fact, sometimes other everyday
noises seem too loud.
