Bill,

It's been 8 years since I was diagnosed with ATM. I am still total
paralyzed from the neck down and dependent on a ventilator to breathe. As
far as improvement goes; within the first year, I regained feeling
everywhere except my right arm, I was not in as much pain. A few years
later I started being able to sometimes feel when my bladder is full and
when I need a bowel movement. There hasn't been any other improvemets. I
don't spend any time looking for a cure and accept my condition the way it
is. The most I hope for is to be able to breathe again on my own so I
wouldn't be dependent on the ventilator for every breath. Any other
recovery would be "icying on the cake". I'm doing fine, I'm not in constant
pain. I spend most of the on the computer. I don't go out much at all,
maybe 1 or twice a year, mainly because I don't have a van. But even when I
do go out I get headaches from the ride, my head bounces around and needs
to be strapped to the wheelchair. Anyway, if I didn't spend as much time on
the computer I wouldn't have been able to start this list or my web site
which help a lot of people. :)
