Joyce,
This is a P.S. to the other message -- I already sent it out before I thought
to add this thought. I was always the last chosen in anything athletic even
without TM. :)
Although physical education was always my valley of humiliation, and for a
long time I had a strong aversion to any kind of sport, over time I accepted
that this area was not my gift and concentrated on other areas where I had
more ability. But I also missed out on some fun activities because I didn't
want to participate because I didn't want to be embarrassed. My 12 year old
son is the same way (he does not have TM, but he is not athletically
inclined.) I do try to encourage him to go to youth activities at church
where they are playing something sports related and just try to participate
and have fun even though he may not feel that is what he's best at. He found
out he enjoyed volleyball, even though he had dreaded going to try it. And he
is also somewhat perfectionistic, so I have to remind him that even the pros
miss a shot or mess up sometimes.
I'm glad to hear of your son's improvement over the years. It always seems a
little harder when something like this strikes children.
