I just returned from my visit to my Neurologist, went there equipped with
some of the questions from the group. Regarding Amitriptyline - My doctor
has me on Nortriptyline, which he told me is in the same family as the
Ami----. The Nortriptyline is an antidepressant, which is not necessarily
used to cure my depression, because I'm not necessarily depressed. The way
it was explained to me when I started taking it two months ago was like this-
I need to get more quality sleep, so as not to wake up fatigued. This drug
helps me to get into a deeper sleep, which is the quality sleep. It doesn't
necessarily help with the hypersensitivity in my leg and the "freezing"
feelings that I have been having in my feet recently. Just helps to not get
bummed out about it.

My doctor said that Amitriptyline is about the same thing, except the
sleeping part. It does not help you to sleep as easily as the Nortriptyline.
I am very happy with the Nort----. I have lots of weird dreams though, and
I read that THAT is a side effect of the drug.

As far as the recent heightened hypersensitivity in my leg is concerned, he
told me that is a "good thing", meaning that my nerves are responding to more
impulses, they are just still confused. He has started me on Tegretol to
lessen these new sensations.

I can't get my hands on them right off the bat, but I know a lot of people
out there are taking Tegretol. Can you refresh my memory on what to expect?
I am also still taking the Baclofen.
