Brian,
My name is Heather Debly and I am Matthew's mother. Over night Matthew
became totally paralized except his left arm, after one week of laying
in the hospital and nothing being done he was finaly air ambulanced to
London Ontario where an MRI was done. A lesion was found from C4 to
T2. We were given the same treatment IV steroids and one week later
Matthew under went 9 hours of surgery to biopsy or remove a tumor. All
that was done was the biospy . I would not recomend the surgery until a
second MRI is done. I believe if Matthew had recieved the second MRI
the surgery would have been cancelled. One week after the surgery the
MRI was done and the lesion was completly gone on it's own (with help
from thew steroids) We were lucky no damage was done that we know of
because of the opperation. Matthew does however have a large scar from
the base of the skull to the bottom of the shoulderblade. Which for him
is very very large because he is only 2 years old. I am very sorry now
that we put him through this The only good thing to happen was since
they allready had him open and the bones cut they inlarged his spine and
released alot of preasure.
