Carbamazepine, cholesterol, and thyroid

I read on the Rx List that sometimes people taking Carbamazepine (Tegretol)
had elevated cholesterol and triglycerides. I just had a check-up and was
told my cholesterol and triglycerides were both high, but I didn't get the
exact numbers. Anyone else had a problem with this? Also read that this drug
could effect thyroid function, and I'm already on Synthroid due to removal of
half my thyroid gland (pre-TM) due to a benign tumor. So I was wondering if I
should try to go off the Carbamazepine. My neuro left it up to me ("try it
and see what happens"). Anyone had their thyroid affected by Carbamazepine?
