Hi everyone, My name is Amber and I was diagnosed with TM in September
of '95'. I'm 18 years old. I am paralyzed at the (T1-C8) level, I have
the use of my arms yet one hand is weaker than the other.
I have read many letters in the list that vary in severity and
differences. I was wondering if any have experienced seizures or a
shingles like rash to begin with, and how everything turned out.
With me, it began with a shingles like rash, flu-like symptoms, and
then a couple of seizures during the night, and then one during the day
wich brought me to the emergency room where I woke up, I was not
diagnosed there because I also underwent a kidney transplant two years
ago and the hospital where I got my transplant done wanted to be the one
who cared for me since they had the most information. That hospital
(U.W. hospital and clinics) was an hour and a half away, and there i was
transported. The paralysis came upon soon after I was admitted into the
hospital, I don't remember if I had numbness or not but I was mostly in
and out in my stay in the ICU, and don't remember much. I stayed in the
hospital for five months rehabilitating, and learning to live with my
disability.
I'm sorry if I had made this too long but, would like to know if
somebody can relate to the symptoms that I have and have seen some
recovery, or can offer some good advice I can take advantage of.
Take care,
Amber
