We do live in an unfair society. The burdens placed upon us by the =
rulers of this country are indeed heavy. Every wrong we must suffer, =
we can lay at the feet of the rulers of our country. This ammounts to =
the 100 billionairs who own and control the means of wealth i.e. the =
means of production. Having the burden of chronic illness and inability =
; makes the life in our country that much more difficult. The quality =
of life issues discussed below, and by others, are not indivdual =
decisions : but made FOR us. Many of our friends, who post here, are =
deeply worried about the issues of coverage, insurance and tomorrow. =
They FEAR and believe the garbage that the extrem right says about =
government. Government is a weapon of class that can cut BOTH ways. It =
can, as this government does--take from the poor and give to the =
rich--OR it can be a weapon that can destribute the wealth of this =
society, so ALL of us have decent housing, income, heat in the winter, =
food , education, access to culture and UNIVERSAL access to QUALITY =
healthcare, for all. Why do so many believe this is utopia? Might I =
answer--because they buy the garbage sold by the ruling class--that they =
must spend more on prisons than on education--that our youth are =
potential criminals--not the future of the country.Peace --and fight =
for your right to thrive, not merely survive. We spend 1 Trillion =
dollars a year on healthcare--we deserve so much more than they dole out =
to us.

Hello everyone,
I am just "weighing in" on the unfairness (insurance) issue. It's =
obviously
a heated cyber arena at the moment - however I have a couple of thoughts =
to
add.
You know - we can talk about "unfairness" forever.=20
But the fact is life is "unfair". And there is NOTHING we can do to
change that fact. We are each born with different inherent abilities,
motivations, talents and genes. That's "diversity" too.
And yes - some of us suffer the burdens of early and catastrophic =
illness -
while others of us do not. We didn't intend to be facing these issues
but we are.=20
Insurance companies, capitalism and religious faith are some of the most
frequent
high profile targets of our frustration with our fragile human =
condition.
And yes - regarding insurance companies the first word out of their =
mouths
is DENIAL - but even if the medical world revolved without them - =
conspiracy
theorists, displeasure, illness and unfairness would remain.
Often times people - in their political zeal - expend precious time and
effort trying to make this world a "living utopia" ( attempts that are =
in
my opinion noble in concept) but in reality misguided and misplaced.
There is no "PERFECT ALL PAYING" health insurance - National Health =
Insurance
is no panacea. ( Reminder: look at the performance and costs of =
Medicare/
Medicaid )
We are instead challenged to balance our needs ( medical and otherwise ) =
to
meet our means.
NOT viceaversa.
Best regards,
Cathy
Energy is a precious commodity for all of us - even more precious to =
those
who are ill ... I chose to expend
it in a more positive worthwhile endeavor.=20
