Hi! I'm writing in response to the leg braces. My daughter, Amanda, has an
AFO "brace" on her left leg. She can use her right leg for walking pretty
well, but she doesn't have full strength in it yet. Her left leg is still
paralyzed, although her physical therapist feels she is getting some muscle
return. She walks with crutches with her AFO. She can now walk about 100
feet without her crutches if she can hold your hand (very lightly) or touch a
wall for balance. It is not a "normal walk"but we are happy and encouraged
with her progress. She also uses her upper body, mostly her hips to pull the
leg forward. She can not do this without her AFO, not even the crutches.
