Lets try and understand what is happening in our country. There are over =
20,000 parasitic insurance carriers who call ALL of the shots. This due =
to the fact of the golden rule they who have the gold make the rule. =
They own congress, the white house and anyone else of influence.
The ONLY hope for a national health plan lies in a unified working =
class demand for such. With nearly 60 million with NO insurance, and 20 =
million or more who must pay exorbitant deductibles ( $ 7 k) the =
question is how and who is going to lead this battle?
Regarding the question about COBRA ( this is continuing the =
insurance from your employer on your own) What persons, being off of =
work have $300 or more per month for insurance ? This is only for =
health, we are not talking dental, life, food, rent or --- whatever.
Lets get real.
Looking for a change in this condition ? Just wait until the $115 =
billion slash of Medicare hits the streets. We can to look back on these =
times with some fondness"

I also agree that the health insurance situation is oppressive in =
the US.
My only hope is that the growing number of self-employed people will =
group
together in their own economic interest and push legislators to get
everyone health care and say to hell with the health insurance =
industry--go
find some other line of work. Just the needs of the unemployed and
underemployed without insurance will never be enough to overcome the =
huge
hurdle of health insurance industry lobbying and influence for the =
status
quo.

Anyone know of any associations of self-employed and small business =
people
we could mobilize or join forces with on this issue? I also wish to =
be
self-employed but am facing the insurance problem.
