I also agree that the health insurance situation is oppressive in the US.
My only hope is that the growing number of self-employed people will group
together in their own economic interest and push legislators to get
everyone health care and say to hell with the health insurance industry--go
find some other line of work. Just the needs of the unemployed and
underemployed without insurance will never be enough to overcome the huge
hurdle of health insurance industry lobbying and influence for the status
quo.
Anyone know of any associations of self-employed and small business people
we could mobilize or join forces with on this issue? I also wish to be
self-employed but am facing the insurance problem.
