Hi Kay,
Yes, I am totally familiar with self-catheterization. Had to do that three
times a day after urinating, when released from hospital, for approximately
a month. I was retaining a lot in the hospital, up to 500cc. post-void
residual. Had bladder infection while in hospital, had another a couple of
weeks later.

The doctor thought that after a month, I no longer needed to "torture"
myself in that way, that if I tried and forced really hard, I should be
advanced enough to void mostly on my own. He was right, but it still came
out sparingly. Told me to only do it when I felt I was not emptying fully.
I guess that once you get used to it, it is not that bad. For men, it is
probably a lot worse. Women are taught at an early age to become very
familiar with their anatomy, while men are not taught that. At least that
is what the nurse told me, who taught me how to self-cath. But since I
started the Baclofen a couple days ago, I noticed it is much easier to
relieve myself. (sometimes these conversations get a little bizarre). I
don't know how the mini-enema is going to work out. Tried it today,
nothing happened.

I might try the Dulcolax. The Fibercon and Senecot-S combination did
absolutely nothing but embarrass me at the wrong times.

Hope you have a good weekend too.

Bye,
Debbie
