I overdid it, went shopping in Shipshewana, Indiana with my daughters,
walked too much, slept too little, had a spasm to pay for it.
I did as Kay suggested, and elevated my foot, and the next morning the
swelling had gone down.
I saw my Neurologist Wednesday, mentioned the swelling, he said "you ain't
seen swelling yet", didn't seem too concerned about the swelling. He did
put me back on Baclofen for urine retention, said I needed to pee more
regularly. I took myself off of the Fibercon and Senekot, when I started
losing control. So now he put me on Theravac (Mini enemas). They are
going to be lots of fun. He said I was too full of Sh**, and I could
damage my intestines, needed to get things moving a little faster.
He also put me on Nortriptyline. The nurse told me that Valium is only a
temporary fix to get me to sleep at night. The Nortriptyline is an
antidepressant which will put me into a deeper sleep, help me wake up more
refreshed, so I can move about a little better. So now I am a walking
pharmacy, which I hadn't been since a month after being released from
hospital.
By the way, I also asked him at what level my TM was, because I had never
been specifically told, and everybody else here seems to know where theirs
is. Mine is at L2, Lumbar Sacral Cord, if that makes sense to anybody.
Anyway, after two days on the Baclofen, I seem to be peeing a lot better.
He mentioned that if it didn't work, I was going to have to go in for
testing, and possibly have a "stuck valve" fixed. Maybe that was what I
needed to hear to get that little thing working better. Also mentioned
another Spinal Tap. I told him that I never ever want to go through that
again, he said sometime down the line I will have to face it again.
Anyway, I am getting off the topic, but wanted to thank you for thinking of
me.
Closing for now,
Debbie
