My name is Ravi. I am a 26 year old Navy Officer diagnosed with TM in Nov
'96. My most significant lesion is at C2-C3. I have two other lesions
located in the pons and cerebrum that have remained clinically silent. (I
am aware of the potential of MS combined with other lab findings such as
ogliconal bands in my csf). I have experienced much improvement from the
initial onset of the infliction that landed me in ICU for four days and all
together in the hospital for about three weeks. My remaining symptoms
include; severe neck, shoulder and face pain, tingling/numbness in my left
hand, leg and foot, a very strong Lemitte's (sp?) syndrome, left leg
weakness and you all know the rest. For the most part I am very
functional, although I fear my career as a diver in the Navy has been cut
short. I have once again begun an extensive workout program, but have been
unable to swim as much as before. After a few hundred yards my left side
becomes very "tingly" and numb. Does anyone else experience this? Running
and lifting weights has no immediate effects but seem to exacerbate the
pain and spasms in my left neck and shoulder. I have been reading this
list for several months and just wanted to say thanks to all of you who
share here. I am stationed away from my family and have called upon this
list several times when the pain or the weakness have become too severe to
handle alone. It is a very strange comfort, but knowing I am not alone is
reassuring. So once again to all of you - - Thanks!
