Hi, I am new to this group, so I hope I do this right. Three and a half
years ago my daughter was diagnosed with acute transverse myelitis. She
was 7 at the time.
She woke up one morning dizzy and within a couple of hours she was totally
paralized. Within the next month she regained feeling in her whole body
but not much movement. She now can move everything but nothing a much use.
She is a quadriplegic. Her lesions were C2 to C5. Her MRI a year later
showed no lesions yet she is still paralized. Because of where her damage
was she has cronic lung problems and frequent pnuemonias. Just recently we
have had to put her on oxygen part of the day. Because of her age, she has
had a great outlook. We've read alot about flu-like symptoms but her
doctor thinks that hers maybe caused by a severe sinus infection. I doubt
this will help anyone, but its good to have someone who's been there to
write to.
