Dear Bill (Kennedy),
Greetings! My name is Maureen and I just wanted to reply to your first
message because it sounded so familiar. I got TM at the age of 15, with
pain in my back and sudden onset of paralysis from the waist down too.
That was thirty years ago! At that time the diagnosis of TM was not
given nor could they do an MRI. I just hung out in the hospital for
three months and then they sent me home able to crawl or stand if I held
onto something. It took about two years for me to go from there to
walking without crutches or any other assistance. Still, I'm not
graceful and I can't run at all but those two talents are rarely
required.
I hope you will recover 100%. Even though I did not, I still finished
high school, went on to college and grad school and have held a full
time job in my profession for 20+ years. I drive, ride a bike, and go
for rides in hot air balloons! Of course, I wish I could run, dance
like a pro and be physically exceptional, but this is what I've got to
work with. By God's grace, I make it one day at a time.
All the best.
'Maureen
