Hi, Friends:
My name is Wilson, I'm Chinese, I live in Hong Kong. On the Christmas
night of 1995, I suffered a fall at home. I find that I had great
difficulty walking in next morning, and I was admitted to the hospital.
I was thoroughly examined that day but by the end of the evening I was
paralyzed from waist down. I had body CT scans and X-rays which showed
nothing. I was in intense pain, all motor functions below waist ceased,
I can't control the bowel and bladder. I had another scan, the doctor
decided that my spinal cord T4 was attacked with TM. I was put on a
heavy course of steroids intravenously for three days. This steroid
treatment did not help at all, my body was paralyzed from waist down, so
I sit on a wheelchair. Since the accident I was hospitalized at
rehabilitation center for almost 1 year. The doctors believed I would
never walk again , so they intrusted the physiotherapists that worked
with me to exercise only my upper body. At there I had learned using
intermittent catheterization riding wheelchair, transferring bed from
wheelchair, I could walk with the aid call "RECIPROCATING GAIT
ORTHOSIS", but I do get tired easily when trying to walk or stand too
long. I would love to hear from anyone who has any information,
feedback, advice, support, or just a simple story to share with me.
