weight gains and other questions

My first attack started very suddenly June 1994, on admission to
hospital I was given high doses of steroids, then an oral course of
steroids. I actually lost alot of weight while in hospital (I was
normal weight beforehand), I slowly regained lost weight and then weight
was constant until about a year ago when I started taking amitriptyline
(anti-depressant) to try and control pain. I quickly gained weight,
15kgs in all, then decided to come off amitriptyline as the still rising
weight gain was causing mobility problems as I have very limited
mobility. I lost the weight I had gained very quickly without dieting.
Many of the anti-depressant & anti-convulsant drugs can cause weight
gain. Sorry to change subjects but wanted to add that I too find my
symptoms are very much worse just before and during menstrual cycle. I
also find any minor colds or viruses I get effect me much worse than
they do other people.
