<<Fortunately I didn't have to take steroids but I did experience weight gain
from inability to exercise. Beacuse it was so awkward to walk and I would
experience periods when I would lose total control of my legs I hestitated
to try any walks. Thought about walking with my cellular phone so I could
call for help . Anyway, I found that swimming was the best exercise -no
stress on back and I could use my legs as little or as much as they were
willing to cooperate. It helped me tremendously mentally too because I
finally felt like I was exerting myself.. I was able to join a "Y" that
keeps the water temperature high. They do alot of classes for seniors and
handicapped individuals, also have a lift it needed to get in and out.
Am able to most anything now but am still swimmming,,,:-)

Interesting, Barb! I did have to take steroids, but mostly at the beginning
so I guess I can't blame the weight gain on that now!!

Interesting about the swimming. My neurologist always told me that it was
not good for me. Also, any warm temperatures make the pain in my legs much
worse (realize that the pool probably isn't *that* warm)

Hope there are many who can share their own ways to lose some weight!
