I definitely sympathize with you!! When I first developed TM, and went to
the emergency room, the doctor only did X-Rays and thought I had a pinched
nerve and prescribed a 6-day dose pack of corticosteroids. After finishing
the steroids, the numbness and tingling came back full force and for about
a week, I developed a small patch of red bumps on my right shoulder. This
rash itched horribly. I would spend hours scratching, and the only thing
that helped (I tried hydrocortisone, etc.) was a cold ice pack!! My
neurologist said it was just another sensation that was probably because of
the mixed messages from my nervous system. I have not experienced the rash
again but that spot does itch occassionally when I am stressed out. So,
possibly it could be related to stress or anxiety. My did not spread to
other areas though, so I don't know if it is the same sort of thing or not.
Try the ice pack, it may help "numb" the itching sensation.
