Hi Jim,

My name is Nicole and I haven't written much. I was diagnosed with TM in
Sept. 96 after having weekness, numbness and tingling in my right hand,
arm, shoulder, and trunk. Also, I am writing because your comment about
elevated liver enzymes hit home. Back around the end of 95 or beginning of
96, I was feeling rather exhausted and thought maybe I had caught mono
again (had it when I was 15 in 1985). I went to the doctor and he ran a
few blood tests, and all he found was that my liver enzymes were elevated.
He told me not to drink alcohol for about two months and to come back to
see him. When I did, my liver enzymes were normal. I don't drink that
often, just for special occasions (holidays). Then I started having this
numbness and all in August of 96, had several MRIs which showed a lesion at
C2-3 but no other lesions anywhere else. Doctor thought MS or cancer
originally then after spinal fluid came back OK, he diagnosed TM and told
me to read up on MS. BUT, in November of 96, went in to see my doctor for
abdominal pain, he did blood work again and found that my liver enzymes
were elevated again. So, I too am curious about whether this is related to
TM or what. I am 26 and have lived around chemical plants for most of my
life, so like you I wonder if the chemicals are connected or not. If you
find anything out let me know. Sorry I don't have any answers just more
questions. Hope you are feeling better, and remember to always be positive!

Also, if any of you know of a good neurologist in the Austin, Texas area
please give me his/her name. I am currently seeking another neurologist
because mine, like I have mention before, has not helped much.

Thanks,

Nicole
