I didn't receive (or apply for) worker's compensation, but I had the flu
and relapses of the flu for a month because it was a very busy time at work
and I kept getting out of bed too soon and coming back to work very ill. I
finally shook the flu, finished my board meeting, and was ready to relax
when I felt the first strange tingling in my legs.

Work stress was definitely a factor in the onset of my TM, but I never
thought the establishment would buy it as work-related. I did, however,
receive full salary on temporary disability for 4.5 months full-time and
another month part-time before coming back to work full time about six
months after I went out sick with the TM, so I was luckier than most.
