Dear Luann,
When I was first in the hospital with TM (before it was diagnosed), among
the blood work that was done was a test of my ANA antibodies -- an indicator
of lupus. They were elevated slightly, but not enough to say I had lupus. I
was told to have that checked again after several months. I went to a
rheumatologist for that and he examined me and did a whole bunch of blood
work and the ANA antibodies were back down where they were supposed to be.
Based on all he did he said I didn't have lupus.
I've been seeing neurologists since this all started and the view seems
to be that TM is a trauma with continuing results rather than a disease
process, though some of cases of folks on this list seem to indicate
otherwise, at least in some cases.
Many people on this list have indicated having flu symtoms before the
onset of TM and some have had inoculations beforehand. You can check the
archives at
http://www.eskimo.com/~jlubin/disabled/tmic for past postings from this list
about that.
