Well, after over three weeks of not having a computer, I am back on line. I
just finished reading about a month's worth of e-mail and glad to see the
tmic is very active. I would first like to thank everyone who has taken the
time to return their TMA questionnaire. We are getting some very good
information from people. Now that I have my computer again, we will start to
enter the data within the next couple of weeks. If you have not returned
your questionnaire, I urge you to do so. If you are looking for some type of
motivation for filling it out -- read all of the postings to tmic. It is
hard to imagine that there is a doctor or hospital that has contact with more
people with tm than we do through the tmic and TMA. We have a great
opportunity to look at the questions that are being raised by many of you.
We also have an opportunity to communicate this information to doctors --
which is going to help them think about "how" they are thinking about tm.
Finally, if you are new to the tmic and have not yet heard about the
Transverse Myelitis Association, please send me your name, address and phone
number (optional) and we will get a newsletter and questionnaire to you. We
will also add you to our membership list so that you will recieve future
newsletters and other mailings. Jim has posted the newsletter and
questionnaire through the tmic. If you have that copy, please fill out the
questionnaire and feel free to either send it to me by mail or
electronically. If you file it electronically, please be sure to carefully
number your responses, so that the information can be coded properly. Joan,
thank you for posting the message for me. And Jim -- thanks a ton for your
work on the TMA internet site. Our best to everyone. Pauline is holding her
own. All of these postings relating stress to intensified symptoms are right
on. Pauline is in the process of completing her master's degree (in
education -- she's a kindergarten teacher) and it has been a strain on her
body as much as on her mind. I'm not sure how you eliminate stress from your
life -- but if you have techniques and strategies for dealing with it when it
happens, you are way ahead of the game.
Take good care of yourselves,
Sandy
