He has made considerable improvement, comparatively, over the last 9
months such that he has most of the use of his arms; only limited use of
his right hand; some strength in his legs such that he is now using a
walker to get around, but cannot walk independently; and is somewhat as
independent as a two year old can be.
This all occurred less than 3 weeks after he received his measles, mumps
and rubella shot. We firmly believe that his TM was the result of his
innoculation since some symptoms appeared shortly after the shot that
was attributed to a "normal" reaction to his shot, as it occurred within
the crucial 10 day reaction period.
He is currently on the medication "Baclofen". He is having some leg
spasms and does appear to be experiencing some pain at times, but as he
is only 2 years old, he may not be able to articulate his feelings or
pain level as well as an adult could.
My questions are:
(1) Does anyone who has TM, or knows someone that has TM, believe that
there may be a link to TM and post-vaccinal complications?;
(2) If anyone else has the muscle spasms, can they explain if there is
any pain associated with the spasms, and if yes, what can you compare
the pain with?;
(3) Is there any pain with bladder spasms, as we were told that
Matthew's loss of bladder control is probably due to spasms?; and
(4) Is anyone aware of complete recoveries with persons afficted with
TM?
Thank you for your time and assistance. Matthew has shown a real sense
of determination that I have not seen in adults, and is continuing to
fight this disabling disorder. It is my sincere hope that all of you
who have TM, or know someone who has TM, will keep up the determination
because there does seem to be some hope.
