By way of background, my father was diagnosed with reoccurring transverse
myelitis about 8 months ago. He can no longer move either of his legs. The
underlying cause of his disease is a mystery. No cancer shows up and we were
told that MS seems unlikely. MRIs, spinal taps, bone scans, VER, blood tests
for inflammatory diseases etc. have not revealed anything. Steroid IV
treatment (three separate proceedures) has been somewhat successful in
halting the deterioration brought on by each occurrence, but the benefits are
only temporary.
Some treatments that have been suggested for us to look into are:
.Plasmaphoresis
.Intravenous Immunoglobulin
.Methotrexate
.Interferon
Has anyone had any experience with any of the above? Thank you for any
suggestions or thoughts that you have.
Sincerely,
Matt Loozis
