My husband, Bret, finally got his second opinion three weeks ago. We liked
the neurologist and he prescribed Zanaflex for the spasticity. Ever since he
has been on the drug he has been WORSE! He is in more pain and has been bed
ridden twice.
Over Memorial Day weekend, he helped a neighbor hammer slats onto a fence and
fixed our shower stall which took a lot of bending over. I was out of town
and he told me after the fact. Over the holiday weekend, he stayed in bed
for all of it. I was in St. Louis visiting my family and Bret flew from
Arlington, Texas to St. Louis to help me drive back twelve hours. After the
twelve hour trip, he could not get out of bed the next day. We did stop
every few hours and he got out of the car, but at one gas station he had to
sit down as he was in pain.
As I said, he is much worse than ever and he has been on Zanaflex for three
weeks now. I am very scared and don't know if this is a relapse or too much
exertion or the drug Zanaflex. The doctor said Zanaflex should help with
the spasticity and to stay on it. Can it take weeks to work?
I know I've rambled, but if anyone has been on Zanaflex, could you please
tell me your experience. It is 4 mg. and he is up to one-half at AM, noon,
and PM.
I anxiously await any replies.
