My new neuro had me tested for HTLV-1 because I had been in Africa. He
described it as a sort of precursor of HIV that has strong associations with
myelitis (not necessarily transverse, I guess). Fortunately, the test came
up negative. He actually asked if I had been in the Caribbean, more likely
for most people in the U.S. than Africa.
He's my third neuro in less than two years, but it seems like perseverance
has finally paid off. He also had an MRI of my thoracic spine, which showed
atypical lesions in three places, which is a change from the one I had seven
years ago. I find out what it means on Tuesday.
I'm a couple of months behind on messages, but trying to catch up.
