Loved your story -- it expressed so well the picture I wish all doctors,
nurses, caregivers could keep in mind. When I was discharged from the
hospital, I was given an evaluation sheet, but did not fill it out. Some days
later someone from the hospital called to ask me the evaluation questions
verbally, and all of the answers were a numerical evaluation -- (1 for
excellent, 2 for average, etc.). When it came to nurses, I told the man I
could not give one numeric evaulation of all of them. Most were average, a
few were well below, and a few were just wonderful. But he insisted, so I
gave them an "average", but that really didn't do justice. I thought of
writing the hospital, especially to commend the good ones, but, I'm afraid I
just never did. I think this kind of thing means even more coming from you,
as you have been on both sides of the fence...or the stethoscope. :-) Thanks
