I had one done in my left eye in early 1996, and it was a piece of cake.
They don't knock you out totally, and I was talking with the doc as he was
slicing away.
The whole thing took about an hour, and after an hour in the recovery room,
I was able to go home. I even walked part of the way.

There is also a very good book that taught me a lot. Maybe your library has
