I think you can lose your taste buds just from the sore throat even
without medicines being involved. When I was in High School (1950's) I
had a bad cold and went to a Sectional Basketball tournament and hollered
and hollered for my team.

I never really could smell or taste right after that. Therefore, I have
kept an eye open for articles on this. I've seen several saying that
this can follow a bad cold or infection.

I don't know the answer to the part about Prednizone though. I've heard
people say they had 40 million side-effects from it before, but don't
remember that one.
