I have been guilty of a few "wrong words" myself. In the hope of getting
some thoughts or feelings out where I can see them, meaning I either
write them or say them to someone, I inevitably use the wrong ones
sometimes. I used to beat myself up about it a lot, then I started
looking around, and realized that I wasn't terminally unique is this
shortcoming, it is called human nature. As far as I know, there was only
ever one perfect person, who NEVER did that, and it isn't me. I dare to
say my friends, that judgment and tongue lashings is anything but
supportive. Maybe acceptance of each other, and the understanding up
front that saying the wrong thing sometimes, really is the inevitable,
would allow us all to freely speak our minds. I too have been tongue
lashed on a few occasions for saying something that someone decided was
only thrown out there to hurt. It is the reason I have such a hard time
saying or writing what I really feel and think. I have never opened my
mouth with only the intention of hurting someone. And to tongue lash
someone for a bad choice of words, is more ignorance of how others feel
than what was said in the first place. I hope that you continue to
express your feelings here, I hope that those "perfect people who have
never had this happen to them", can, at the very least, understand that
it does happen to the rest of us. Support is what you came here for my
friend, and that is what I offer you. Please speak your mind, and do
your best to address your feelings here with us, and let those who have
a problem with that, deal with it. It is my opinion, that often times
when people can not achieve perfection themselves, they begin to expect
it from the rest of the world. That is unfair, and unattainable, and
what really needs to be considered here is, who on this list has never
been guilty of saying the wrong thing at the wrong time ? Let those
people be the designated tongue lacers, the rest of us are guilty of the
same thing ourselves, and should expect that it also happens to others.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Mandy
