Hi Jeny,
Karen here-
I actually got rid of my treadmill. That doesn't mean one is not for
you- but I started slow and was trying to work up and was pushing myself
too hard, I guess. I got much worse using a treadmill. If your legs are
stiffening up like mine were, exercising them too much won't do any
good. Doing NO exercise is just as harmful. All I know from experience is
that you'll get all kinds of advise, but deep inside your heart, you will
know if you're pushing too hard or if your not getting the exeercise you
need. Follow your heart.
Rather than invest in a treadmill, I'd walk a bit and do some exercise
or light housework so that you are feeling a sense of accomplishment and
getting some exercise. In addition, I'd ask Gunny here on the TMIC list
for information of his exercise program which involves bands and is a
lower impact yet strengthening exercise program. This got him from
wheelchair to walking with a cane. I'm working up to that after a bad
relapse in September left me unable to walk or do too much for a while. I
still need the wheels for now, but I'm taking a few steps now!
Please keep us imformed as to how you are doing, and if I can do
anything, ask. Love, Karen(Mushroo)
