"Autopsy - Understanding life, after death"
Autopsies can provide critical health information for the families of those
who die from Alzheimer's disease, heart disease, cancer and other conditions
in which heredity or some infectious diseases play a role. During the 1950s,
autopsies were done on about half of those who died in U.S. hospitals.
Today, that percentage is about 10 percent or less.

"Fat in buttermilk"
The name 'buttermilk' conjures images of fat, fat and more fat. But that's
not always accurate. The fat in buttermilk depends on the milk it's made
from.

"Hearing protection"
Could an hour mowing the lawn on Saturday morning damage your hearing? A
good rule of thumb is if you have to shout to be heard above the noise of
your mower, you might benefit from hearing protection. Find out what works
best to save your hearing.

No andro benefit:
Sales of androstenedione increased wildly when baseball slugger Mark McGwire
admitted that he used the supplement, despite a lack of evidence about its
safety and effectiveness. But now there's some scientific evidence -- and it
doesn't encourage use of "andro" at all. A small Iowa State University study
published in the June 2 issue of the Journal of the American Medical
Association found no difference in muscle strength or testosterone levels in
men who took andro compared with men who took a placebo. More importantly,
the study found that men who took andro had raised levels of female hormones
and undesirable changes in blood cholesterol. For background, see:

Brain cancer vaccine?
A vaccine that provokes an immune system response has shown some promise in
treating aggressive brain tumors in animals, according to a report in the
June 1 issue of the Journal of Neurosurgery. Researchers at the UCLA's
Jonsson's Cancer Center said the study may serve as a basis for future
clinical trials in humans. For general information about brain tumors, see:
