When I was having gallbladder problems 13 years ago, they did a test in which
I had to drink some stuff, then they did something like an x-ray to see what
the dye (or "contrast material") showed in my gallbladder. I say something
like an x-ray, because it was different from any other x-ray I had. They had
me standing up and pushed some kind of machine against me. I imagine, if that
is still the way they do it, they would have some way to accomodate someone
who could not stand. The dye didn't show up in my gallbladder at all, meaning
the opening was blocked by a gallstone. Had to have surgery to remove it, and
they found a number of gallstones in there. Sorry to be so vague about the
test -- that's all I remember. There may be new ways of testing it now -- the
whole way they do surgery for it is different now -- but I just wanted to let
you know they do have ways to check on it. Maybe someone who has had it done
more recently can elaborate.
