Hi...just wanted to say welcome and as the saying goes sorry you had to find
us but glad you did.
It's nice to hear that your getting more strength and sensation back everday
with your PT. Just love to hear of success.
I think it's wise to get a second opinion. May I ask how familiar your neuro
is with TM or if he has ANY patients with it at all? Personally, I would be
reluctant to start the avonex but then again you didn't mention your symptoms
or the problems you are currently having.
I've had the evoked potentials and it's nothing to worry about. A bit
uncomfortable, but that's about it. My neuro never told me that if 2/3 come
back that it means I have MS and if I'm wrong gang please correct me, but I
strongly disagree with this because they also use EP's for neuropathies,
myolapathies, and many other disorders and problems. If all of the other
tests, MRI's CT's and spinals came back negative, then for right now it would
be quite hard to give a sure DX of MS.
Here you will find much support and a vast amount of much needed information.
Glad your with us and please feel free to share your story with us.
By the way, what part of Buffalo are you from?

Hi, I was diagnosed with acute TM on 5/3/99. I was working in Dallas, TX
when my TM symptoms came upon me. I'm origionally from Atlanta, GA. It
took
10 days in order to get a flight back to Atlanta to start my rehab. Rehab
is
going very well, getting more strength and sensation back every day.

I've been reading alot of theTMIC letters to everyone and thought it was
time
to get more involved. I want to share my experiences so far, but have a
question that I hope someone else might have gone through the same
experience. That is my MRI, CT, Spinal Tap and all blood work came back
negative. My neuro was trying to rule out MS and his diagnosis came back as
Acute TM. Since I've been back to Atlanta I finally hooked up with a
neurologist here. He examined me for 10 minutes and has all but concluded
that I have MS. What I'm asking is, he wants to send me for an (invoke
potential) test. They put electrodes all over my head and then they check
my
hearing, seeing and nerves for brain activity. He said if two of the three
come back positive than I could possibly have MS. I'm looking for anyone
that has had this test done or knows anything about it. He also wants to
start an injection program, possibly (avonex might be spelled incorrectly)
at
this time without giving any definitve test results. I'm going to get a
second opinion. If anyone can help me, I'd greatly appreciate it. I read
an
EMAIL earlier today saying how powerful the internet was to pass this
information around. I strongly agree. Thanks in advance. I look forward
to
further conversations with everyone. I'm also a very big Sabres fan,
orgionally from Buffalo. GO SABRES. >>
