Thank you for your responses about autos that are accessible.
We got a 96 Toyota Avalon and the doors open up real wide. I haven't
tried to get him in there yet, but it has a ceiling handle-like thing for
him to use if need be, and it also has that center arm-thing in the front
seat which he usually uses in the older cars to pull himself over.
I went to church in the downtown area today - a place where the
homeless go - I like it a lot there but hadn't been there in quite a
while like maybe 2 years or more - and they had moved to a new building.
A lot of seminary students and social workers go there as well as
homeless people. I have to money for nice outfits so I thought I could
go back there today - while I was inside I belive someone tried to break
into my new car. It's a little bit sporty looking! There were scratches
all over the driver's door which I had not noticed before!
There were a lot of nice cars there - I think a Cadillac and Mercedes
and a couple of vans but someone picked my little Toyota to try to get
in, I believe. I only picked it out so that Bill could get in
there!!!!~~~~ Sometimes you can't win.
We were surprised, too, the Buick LaSabre did not open as wide as a
Honda we looked at.
Now, for the gastric problems. Thanks for the input on that, Mykella,
too! He is still having the problems, and severe ones. The latest is
they gave him Cipro and one more antibiotic which I think is
metronidazole or something for the colon. He threw out the second one
-made him sick. He requested Erythromycin, which I've noticed several on
this list have liked and he has good success with - but they told him it
is only for UTI and not for stomach or colon problems, so he couldn't
have it.
They also brought in the "big" Doctor (a young girl) and they told
him he is a puzzle.
So, he is to take the Cipro and come back June 28 unless he can't make it
till then.
Barb D. in Louisville thanking you!!!~~~~and talking about Bill and the
VA Hospital
