I personally believe it's never too late to start on interferon shots,
because they are supposed to stop further (debilitating) attacks. Even for
those on wheelchairs, they should be offered, lest one winds up in a
respirator. which would indeed be a terrible thing to happen. That they
don't, as you state, is the fault of the insurance companies.

As for why wouldn't the Betaserons and similar MS treatments apply to TM
patients, again, I believe it's because the insurance companies don't
wanna fork out the money. Marabeth's Avonex shots cost $210 each, and Blue
Cross only pays 80%, so we hafta make up the difference. My brother in
law Sam has CIGNA and he only pays 20 bucks a pop. Such disparities here,
indeed.

I regret that in your case, the docs waited and waited before starting you
on the proper meds. Am wondering if my aggresive persistence with me
missus's neuro was the reason she got the shots as soon as she did.
