Bill has indigestion and just trouble digesting. While in
University Hospital I can remember that he shouted at them at one point
"If you could just solve this stomach problem, then I know you could
solve the not walking." "It started in the stomach area." He complains
almost every day about food not seeming to digest properly. I don't
really know if it is related to TM, though.
As far as your question about whether it gets worse, I don't know if
a study has ever been done on how many get worse compared to how many
get better - or stay the same. I can tell by reading Bill's 1971
medical file that almost everything is about the same, actually.
The only thing that changed - he had trouble moving in 1971 but got
better over a period of several months, went back to walking and working
full time, but in 1980 things started up again and he walked with a
cane, then in 1985 he ended up in a wheelchair but who knows if the 1985
downslide was caused by the TM itself or by one of the tests they gave
him in 85---or just from not taking proper care of himself - not doing
his PT when assigned and things like that.
That is my report on just one person. I hadn't really thought about
it - but most of his symptoms just looking in from the outside seem
about the same or a little better except for going into not walking in
1985.
