Hi,
Guess it's time for me to comment on Mandy's letter and Anita's answer
to it. First let me say that I am extremely proud of both these young
women. Yes, they are my daughters, but more importantly they are my
friends.
Jan, there was more truth in your words than you know. We have all
known for quite some time that Mandy was having additional problems.
It is just a facet of her personality to hold things in until she has
reached some resolution in her own mind. When that occurs she will
open up and let everyone else in. In the meantime we just stand by
and wait for a sign of something we can do to help. Sometimes, in fact
most of the time, the best thing we can do is leave her alone until
she is ready. Well, now she's ready. And so are we. Even with the
combined efforts of all of us we will not defeat this thing and have
accepted that. But together we can find alternative ways of doing
things.
One thing my children seem to forget. With a lot of help from God I
made that body. I know it almost as well as she does. Not much is
going to escape my notice.
My very best wishes to each and every one of you for a glorious Mothers
Day. You are very special people and I feel the need to tell you that.
It takes tremendous strength and fortitude to wage this battle every
minute of every day. Yes, there are going to be times when all seems
hopeless. And there will be times when defeat seems inevitable. But
each of us has the same path to follow in this thing called life and
the end result is the same for everyone of us. The only difference is
in the number of rock slides we have to deal with during the journey.
My faith in God makes me believe that if he can't remove the rocks for
me, he will help make the trip around them easier.
Have a great day.
Alice
