Dear Ken,
I do not take any meds what so ever. I have reduced kidney
function (I have lost almost half function.) That makes it very
difficult to medicate me, because the side effects are multiplied
because of the length of time it takes to leave my system. I am also
super reactive to the meds that they have tried, all of them have made
me sick and weaker and unable to deal with my five year old on a daily
basis because of the "loopy head". The benefits of the meds can't be
argued with, unless they cause more problems than they solve, which is
the case for me. From time to time, I have had to take some meds for
short periods to regain control of spasms, and swelling. But long term
medication therapy is not an option for me. I have spasms so bad that
they actually make me dizzy, and some that make me vomit with their
"sudden stabs". I have learned to deal with a tremendous number of
annoyances, because with out medication, spasms can get very bad, very
fast, and my options for settling them down are slim, except to
completely "give in" and try to relax with whatever means necessary. It
seems the more I fight to keep doing what ever I am doing when they
start, the longer they last, and the more intense they get. I use
visualization a tremendous amount, it helps me to go to a better place
in my head than these spasms take me sometimes. I appreciate your
interest and concern very much, and would appreciate any insights or
ideas that you may have. btw...I am blind in my left eye from a
childhood injury, so when these vision problems start bothering me,
covering one eye is already done ! If covering one eye does help, thank
god he took care of that one for me. i guess that there are advantages
to having one eye ! wish you smiles, Mandy.
