Hi Mandy, Angela, Mykella et al;
=20
Mandy - re epidurals I have been unable to find any literature since =
being diagnosed with TM late 1992 at age 26. I did my spinal/wheelchair =
rehab at Hampstead Spinal Injuries Unit in Adelaide, South Australia and =
was quite a novelty as they had not EVER heard of TM before (but all the =
Nurses had heard of spinal injury/paraplegia after an epidural!) The =
head of the spinal unit was really helpful in trying to find information =
but to no avail.(but then she is a Dr) Every Dr I have ever had the =
PLEASURE to meet will swear on a stack of Bibles that the TM/Paralysis =
had nothing to do with the epidural - whatever, I had/have too much =
going on in my life (and not enough cash) to worry about proving =
anything. Continued search for information led me to finding the TMA on =
the net (and I thought I was all alone!)=20
I understand how Blake reasons, my little boy - Tyler, is exactly the =
same and makes lots of allowances for his mum. We have made sure he =
misses out on nothing in his life due to me having to curb some activity =
due to fatigue etc but lots of help from friends and relatives go =
towards making up for some of it.=20
=20
Angela - I don't know what the answer is to weight gain, I think we all =
probably go through that a bit, especially if we had steroids, =
anti-convulsants etc and can't get enough exercise. Before I got TM I =
never stopped, had my own business, worked two nights a week for my =
parents in their business, played mixed netball, nightclubbed a couple =
of nights a week, swam, walked, etc, etc it has lots to do with current =
lifestyles (and those well meaning friends who bring chocolate - bless =
them!) Just remember you are who you are, your friends, family love you, =
and not the ideal you wish you could be. Its a hard lesson to learn but =
TM seems to be all about learning lessons. Also to quote The Body Shop =
"There are three billion women in the world who don't look like =
supermodels - and only eight who do" So look after No.1 and your family =
as best you can and remember to ask for help, those offering really do =
want to help you.=20

Mykella - re TPN make sure you keep up with the blood tests for liver =
damage, are you able to take lots of Vitamin C? I found it helps to make =
you feel a little more like a human being.

Be well, all of you
Love Karyne (in Gawler, South Australia where it is really cold =
tonight!)
