I checked the Microsoft web site found this:

Windows 98 Year 2000 Update resolves minor issues

Microsoft has discovered minor Year 2000 issues in Windows 98, which are easily
fixed with the Windows 98 Year 2000 Update. In rare instances, these issues can
result in incorrect display of dates in 2000, but they pose no risk of data
loss.
Chances are, you would never run into these issues in your normal, daily
computer
use. There are several ways to get the update:

Download it from the Windows Update Web site at
http://www.microsoft.com/windows98/downloads/
Order the CD online
Order the CD by calling 1-800-363-2896

Though the Year 2000 issues found in Windows 98 English are common to the
international versions of Windows 98, this update only works for English
versions.
Complete testing of international versions of Windows 98 is targeted to be
completed by Q1 of 1999, and international versions of the Year 2000 Update
will
be posted as soon as they are available.

They have some Y2K information at <http://www.microsoft.com/technet/year2k/>.
I don't know where at 1-888 number came from.
